Ranger Writing Rubric
The Ranger Writing Rubric teaches your students how to become independent writers. The rubric has ten important writing objectives that students need to learn to include each time they write. Objectives #1-8 focus on writing content and #9-10 focus on writing mechanics. This rubric can be changed each time a student writes depending on which objectives a students wants to focus on.
Have the student place a check on the line to the left of each objective that he is focusing on for a particular writing. Then ask the student to decide how many points each checked objective should be worth. You can also use the objectives on the rubric as mini lesson topics.
This rubric makes grading a story much easier for the teacher and undestandable for the student.
